The mealy modifier can often be found along with the dun dilution especially in old, wild breeds like Przewalski’s horse. The two together along with wildtype bay are though to be an ancestral coloring of the species. The dun dilution creates darker hairs, while mealy does the opposite. Making for an animal that can be drastically contrasting and unmistakably mealy.
